finally a competition

the weather got the better of us and the radical decision was made to relocate the comp 500km south to Tocumwal on the Murray River. So I drove the 500km to Tocumwal yesterday. Crew had to change plans and rather than drive to Narromine, flew to Melbourne and drove up.

This is a major task, moving a comp, and we are now ready for competition practice day tomorrow. At least the weather is better.

Tocumwal is a bit of a derelict aerodrome and there has been lots of work by the pilots and organisers to re-establish a comp in a new location

Saturday's Skew-T looks bad

Tuesday - weather marginal for gliding; burned more hours fiddling with the glider, maps, rules etc. Now running out of useful things to do while waiting for some decent weather. Prognosis looks glum but better than in Qld.

Arrive Narromine

Arrived at Narromine late Saturday afternoon, just after a massive storm. Next day spent rigging and fixing up a few outstanding jobs on the glider. Today the weather looked pretty poor with high cloud and very strong easterly winds. The day finally came good at about 3pm but I didn't fly. I always have to remind myself that the days start late in the south. Hope tomorrow is a bit better but outlook is not great.
